Eighth Grade Picnic Update

The eighth grade picnic is almost here! If you volunteered to work the picnic, please make sure that you filled out a volunteer form from the district. If you’re still interested in sending an item in, we still have some slots that are open! Thanks to all who have helped to make this a fun morning for the students!

Locker Clean Out & Lost and Found

Please remind your students to clean out their locker before they leave for the summer break on Wednesday, 6/17. There will be garbage barrels available in each of the grade level pods for their convenience.

This would also be a great time to ask them to check the lost and found area as many items have accumulated.

Thanks for helping keep our school clean, and have an awesome summer!

Join the WJ CyberPumas Team (Lego Robotics)

Applications are now available for the 2026-27 WJ CyberPumas! Join our Lego Robotics Team for the upcoming school year. All incoming 6th, 7th and 8th grade students are invited to apply. Team meetings run from late August through December, meeting once a week after school at WJJMS from 2-3:30PM, with a team competition on a Saturday in November. The 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the William J. Johnston Amphitheater Courtyard on Tuesday, June 16th. We ask that students arrive by 5:15 p.m. The Promotion Ceremony generally lasts about one hour. As a suggestion, appropriate attire for the evening would be slacks and a tie (jackets are optional) or a simple sundress or skirt with a blouse. This is an OUTDOOR event. Tickets are not required for the outdoor event. Please bring your own folding chair(s). Please note that the front entrance of WJJMS is only to be used for ADA access. All others please walk around the side of the building to the back amphitheater/courtyard. Here is a map that shows routes for walking to the back of the building depending on the location of where you park. Immediately following the ceremony will be the 8th grade dance from 6:30-8pm.

IN THE EVENT OF RAIN the ceremony only will take place at Bacon Academy in the gymnasium. Due to the amount of space, tickets WILL BE required to enter the gym. A decision will be sent out to parents during the school day of June 16th if the weather looks like there is a possibility of rain. IF it is decided that the ceremony needs to be held indoors, each 8th grade student will at that time receive four (4) tickets for the indoor event. If you have special circumstances and may need an additional ticket(s), please complete this brief form by June 12th.

Please Note: The dance will still be held at WJJMS, rain or shine.

Reminder - Medication Pick Up!

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of the school year, this is a reminder that all student medications currently stored in the health office must be picked up by a parent or guardian no later than the last day of school before dismissal.
This includes all prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, inhalers, EpiPens, and emergency medications.
Please note the following important information:
  • Medications cannot be sent home with students unless written "self carry" authorization is on file.
  • Controlled meds MUST BE PICKED UP by an adult prior to student dismissal on June 17th. Medications not picked up by June 17th will be discarded.
  • If your child will require medication at school for the upcoming school year, new physician orders and parent authorization forms may be required.
Please contact your child’s school nurses to arrange medication pick-up or with any questions regarding medication procedures.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and healthy school environment.
