News from the office:

Office changes/emails:

Over the next few months, there will be some changes taking place within the Jack Jackter Intermediate School main office. You may notice a mix of familiar faces along with some new members joining our office team.
As we navigate these changes, it is crucial that all emails regarding attendance, buses, pickups, early dismissals, and other important information related to your child be sent to one of the following shared email addresses:
Sending information directly to a particular staff member rather than one of the shared email addresses may result in the communication being missed or delayed. Using the shared email addresses ensures that all office staff receive the most up-to-date information and are able to support your child's needs promptly.
We greatly appreciate your help and cooperation as we work through these transitions. Thank you for helping us ensure that important information gets to the right people!

Grade 3 Highlights

In third grade students have jumped right into their learning!  During math they have started multiplication by exploring equal groups and arrays.  They have learned new vocabulary such as factor and product.  Students have also started using the Read Draw Write strategy for problem solving.  During reading, students have been focusing on accountability in their comprehension.  They have been monitoring their own reading and learning what successful partner reading looks like.  Students have been learning about sequencing and summarizing.  During writing the focus has been on complete sentences vs fragments.  Third grade started their year off with science, focusing on what makes a good scientist and then moving on to forces of motion. It seems that the third graders are well into the swing of things and have been really working hard to follow all of the the ROCKS rules!

Grade 4 Highlights

Our fourth graders have been busy building a strong classroom community and getting to know one another through fun “Getting to Know You” activities. Students wrote “I Am” poems as a way to learn more about their classmates. We have also been practicing summarizing fiction books and passages read by using the Somebody Wanted But So Then Finally strategy to identify the most important parts of a story. In math, students have been diving into place value, exploring the value of digits in multi-digit numbers and strengthening their understanding of how numbers are composed. We are off to a wonderful start and look forward to all the learning ahead!
